Cdc25 Inhibitors

Cdc25 Inhibitors are a class of compounds that inhibit the expression or activity of the Cdc25 protein. Cdc25 is a family of phosphatases that play a critical role in regulating cell cycle progression. Cdc25 phosphatases activate cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks), which in turn drive the cell through the different phases of the cell cycle. Cdc25 Inhibitors exert their effect by modulating different aspects of Cdc25 biology. Some Cdc25 Inhibitors, such as small molecule inhibitors, can directly bind to Cdc25 and prevent it from interacting with its substrates or from being activated. Other Cdc25 Inhibitors, such as gene silencing agents (e.g., siRNA, shRNA), can reduce the expression of Cdc25 mRNA or protein. By modulating Cdc25 expression or activity, Cdc25 Inhibitors can influence cell cycle progression and cell growth.

K-252a (CAS 99533-80-9) is a potent and selective inhibitor of Cdc25 phosphatases, a family of enzymes that play a critical role in regulating cell cycle progression. K-252a binds to the active site of Cdc25 and prevents it from dephosphorylating and activating cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks). By inhibiting Cdc25, K-252a blocks the G1/S and G2/M transitions of the cell cycle, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. K-252a is a valuable tool for studying the role of Cdc25 in cell cycle regulation and has been used to investigate the mechanisms of cell cycle checkpoints.
