We highly recommend as an alternative, our mouse monoclonal antibody, caspase-3 (E-8): sc-7272. For a limited time, we are offering a free 10 µg sample of this antibody. Dear Sirs, I have used this antibody (sc-7148), which had stained well defined bands at 50-70 kDa. However, this was the only staining found in the blot. Is it possible that the antibody had stained something else than caspase-3?

Thank you for your question. This rabbit polyclonal, caspase-3 Antibody (H-277): sc-7148, is recommended for detection of caspase-3 p11, p17 and p20 subunits and full length procaspase-3; it is also partially cross-reactive with other caspases. The expected molecular weight for procaspase-3 is ~ 32 kDa. We do not have any further information about higher molecular weight bands which may be detected by the antibody in different samples. This rabbit polyclonal antibody is now discontinued. We highly recommend our alternative mouse monoclonal, caspase-3 Antibody (E-8): sc-7272. (https://www.scbt.com/scbt/product/caspase-3-antibody-e-8). As a monoclonal, this antibody is more specific than the polyclonal, plus there is no lot-to-lot variation which is common among polyclonal antibodies. If you would be interested in testing a 10 µg sample of this monoclonal antibody, please contact our Technical Service Department.
