Zygin 2 Antibody (F-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects zygin 2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-zygin 2 antibody (F-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Zygin 2, also known as FEZ2 (fasciculation and elongation protein zeta 2), is a 353 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that plays a crucial role in neuronal development and axon guidance. Zygin 2 is expressed in various non-neural tissues, including heart, lung, spleen, muscle, testis, placenta, and melanocytes, and exists as a disulfide-linked homodimer, with potential to form heterodimers with zygin 1. Zygin 2′s ability to facilitate axonal outgrowth and fasciculation is particularly important for proper neural network formation, as shown by restoring partial locomotion and axonal fasciculation in C. elegans UNC-76 mutants. Zygin 2 is encoded on human chromosome 2p22.2 and mouse chromosome 17 E3, with two alternatively spliced isoforms. Zygin 2 and zygin 1 are evolutionarily conserved orthologs of C. elegans gene UNC-76, highlighting a fundamental role in nervous system development and function.
