WWOX Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects WWOX of mouse, rat, and human origins through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). WWOX, or WW domain containing oxidoreductase, plays a crucial role as a candidate tumor suppressor, featuring two WW domains that facilitate protein-protein interactions and a short chain dehydrogenase (SDR) domain that is integral to sex-steroid metabolism. WWOX modulates cellular processes that influence cancer development; alterations in WWOX have been linked to esophageal squamous cell carcinogenesis and the tumorigenicity of breast cancer cell lines such as MDA-MB-435 and T47D. The murine homolog WOX1 is localized in the mitochondria, where WOX1 contains a mitochondrial targeting sequence within the SDR domain, underscoring WOX1′s significance in cellular energy metabolism and apoptosis regulation. WOX1 can physically associate with JNK1, which sequesters WOX1-dependent apoptosis, highlighting the intricate interplay between these proteins in cancer biology. Anti-WWOX antibody (A-5) is an essential tool for researchers investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying tumor suppression and the role of WWOX in various cancers.
