SEE ALSO...

WRN Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects WRN protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). WRN (D-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. WRN protein plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic stability, as WRN is involved in DNA repair processes, particularly in unwinding DNA during replication and repair. This function is vital because defects in WRN protein can lead to DNA damage accumulation, which is a hallmark of aging and is associated with age-related diseases, including cancer. Werner′s syndrome, an autosomal recessive disorder linked to mutations in WRN gene, exemplifies WRN protein′s importance; individuals with this syndrome experience premature aging and a higher incidence of malignancies. WRN gene, located on chromosome 8′s short arm, encodes a protein that is 1,432 amino acids long and shares significant homology with other DNA helicases. Notably, four mutations in WRN gene have been identified in patients with Werner′s syndrome, with one mutation affecting mRNA splice-junctions found in 60% of those examined, leading to a frameshift and a truncated WRN protein.
