VWF Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody designed to target the von Willebrand factor (VWF) protein of human origin, specifically recognizing an epitope mapped between amino acids 2779-2813 near the C-terminus of VWF. VWF monoclonal antibody (C-12) is validated for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and demonstrates reactivity with VWF from mouse, rat, and human species. VWF is a vital multimeric glycoprotein essential for hemostasis, synthesized primarily in endothelial cells and stored in Weibel-Palade bodies, as well as in platelets where VWF resides in alpha granules. Upon vascular injury, VWF is rapidly secreted into the plasma, where VWF plays a critical role in blood coagulation by mediating platelet adhesion and aggregation through interaction with glycoprotein Ib (GPIb) receptors on platelets and binding to exposed collagen in the subendothelial matrix. This interaction initiates the formation of a stable blood clot, preventing excessive bleeding. Additionally, VWF serves as a carrier protein for Factor VIII, a crucial cofactor in the coagulation cascade, protecting Factor VIII from proteolytic degradation and ensuring availability during the clotting process. The functionality of VWF is essential for maintaining hemostatic balance, and any defects or deficiencies in VWF can lead to von Willebrand disease, the most common inherited bleeding disorder characterized by impaired blood clotting and excessive bleeding. By specifically targeting the C-terminal region of VWF, anti-VWF antibody (C-12) enables detailed studies of VWF′s interactions with key coagulation factors and cellular receptors, facilitating a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying blood coagulation and the pathophysiology of bleeding disorders. Whether used in basic research to explore VWF′s role in vascular biology or in clinical diagnostics to assess VWF levels and functionality in patient samples, VWF (C-12) antibody provides reliable and precise detection, supporting advancements in the study and management of hemostatic processes and coagulation-related conditions.
