VWF Antibody (F8/86) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody designed to detect von Willebrand factor (VWF) protein with exceptional precision across various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). VWF is a complex multimeric glycoprotein composed of multiple repeating units, each containing distinct domains such as D′D3, A1, A2, A3, and C-terminal regions, which are critical for its role in hemostasis. This intricate structure allows VWF to effectively mediate platelet adhesion and aggregation at sites of vascular injury by interacting with glycoprotein Ib (GPIb) receptors on platelets and binding to collagen in the subendothelial matrix. Additionally, the multimeric nature of VWF enhances its ability to serve as a carrier for Factor VIII, a vital cofactor in the coagulation cascade, thereby ensuring the stability and availability of Factor VIII during clot formation. The structural integrity of VWF, maintained through posttranslational modifications such as propeptide cleavage and the formation of intersubunit disulfide bonds, is essential for functionality and ability to prevent excessive bleeding, as defects in VWF structure are the underlying cause of von Willebrand disease, the most common inherited bleeding disorder. Anti-VWF antibody (F8/86) is raised against VWF isolated from human plasma, and is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® variants to accommodate diverse experimental needs. By enabling accurate detection and analysis of VWF′s structural domains and multimeric forms, VWF monoclonal antibody (F8/86) facilitates in-depth studies into the molecular mechanisms of blood coagulation, the regulation of hemostatic balance, and the pathophysiology of bleeding disorders. Whether utilized in basic research to explore the structural dynamics of VWF or in clinical diagnostics to assess VWF levels and functionality in patient samples, VWF (F8/86) antibody serves as a useful tool for studying vascular biology and the development of therapeutic strategies for managing coagulation-related conditions.
