VRK2 Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects VRK2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-VRK2 antibody (H-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. VRK2, or vaccinia related kinase 2, is a 508 amino acid single-pass type IV membrane protein that features a protein kinase domain and is classified within the serine/threonine protein kinase family. VRK2 is predominantly expressed in the heart, skeletal muscle, pancreas, testis, and fetal liver, where VRK2 plays a crucial role as a serine/threonine kinase that catalyzes the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of target proteins, including casein and p53, thereby modulating their functional activities within the cell. VRK2 is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum, which allows VRK2 to effectively regulate protein activity and participate in essential cellular processes such as proliferation. VRK2 expression is found to be upregulated in certain carcinomas, indicating potential involvement in cancer development. Five isoforms of VRK2 arise from alternative splicing events, which may contribute to diverse functional roles in cellular signaling and regulation.
