SEE ALSO...

VP16 Antibody (14-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects VP16 in various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-VP16 antibody (14-5) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. VP16, also known as the Herpes simplex virus protein vmw65, plays a crucial role in the viral life cycle by acting as a transcriptional activator, which is essential for the expression of immediate-early genes necessary for viral replication. This function is particularly important as VP16 allows the virus to hijack the host′s cellular machinery, facilitating efficient viral propagation and pathogenesis. Understanding the interactions and mechanisms of VP16 can provide insights into potential therapeutic targets for herpesvirus infections. The two-hybrid system, a widely-used method for detecting protein-protein interactions, can be employed to study VP16′s interactions with other proteins, enhancing our understanding of VP16′s role in the viral lifecycle and impact on host cell functions.
