VP16 Antibody (1-21) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects VP16 protein by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-VP16 antibody (1-21) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. VP16 protein, also known as the 65 kDa tegument protein of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), plays a crucial role in viral life cycle by facilitating transcription of immediate-early genes, which are essential for initiating viral replication. VP16 (1-21) monoclonal antibody interacts with host transcription factors, such as Oct-1 and Host Cell Factor 1 (HCF), to enhance transcriptional activity of viral genes, thereby promoting efficient viral replication and pathogenesis. VP16′s ability to modulate host cellular machinery underscores its importance in virology and highlights potential for therapeutic interventions targeting this protein. The two-hybrid system, a widely utilized method for detecting protein-protein interactions, leverages unique properties of VP16, allowing researchers to explore complex protein interactions and their implications in various biological processes.

I am interested in working with this VP16 antibody for western blotting. I would like to know if in order to prepare the antibody, this is resuspended in milk or bsa, as it is not specified in the datasheet or the web page.

Thank you for your question. We recommend using UltraCruz® Blocking Reagent: sc-516214 https://www.scbt.com/p/ultracruz-blocking-reagent for blocking purposes. This reagent is also what is used for our tests wen establishing antibody stainings.

Is the antibody sc-7545 able to recognize VP64 protein (4 times epitope 437-447 of VP16 protein)?

Thank you for your question. VP16 Antibody (1-21): sc-7545 was raised against amino acids 456-490 of VP16 and will recognize proteins containing this exact amino acid range. If your particular protein or peptide only contains amino acid range 437-447 it will not be recognized by this antibody.

Hi. Can I request a sample for sc-7545? I have a VP16 fused GAL4 protein and I want to check its expression by western blot and IF. This antibody is suitable for my purpose but firstly I need to check if it is working with my fused protein. Thank you,

We recommend using one our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins (m-IgGκ BP) conjugated to either FITC, PE or a CruzFluor as a secondary detection reagent.
