VMAT 2 Antibody (H-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects VMAT 2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). VMAT 2 (H-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. VMAT 2 protein plays a crucial role in neurotransmission by facilitating the packaging of monoamines, such as dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine, into synaptic vesicles, which is essential for the regulated release of these neurotransmitters during neuronal signaling. This process is vital for proper communication between neurons and is implicated in various neurological disorders when dysregulated. Structurally, VMAT 2 is characterized by twelve transmembrane domains, which are essential for its function as a vesicular transporter, and shares weak homology with a class of bacterial antibiotic resistance proteins, highlighting evolutionary significance. The active transport mechanism of VMAT 2 is ATP- and proton-dependent, underscoring the energy requirements for neurotransmitter packaging and release.

Can VMAT 2 (H-12): sc-374079 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Thank you for your question. Yes, VMAT 2 (H-12): sc-374079 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections.
