VHL Antibody (G-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) protein of mouse, rat, and human origin through applications such as western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA. VHL (G-7) antibody is offered in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. VHL protein plays a crucial role as a tumor suppressor, and individuals with germline mutations in VHL gene are at a heightened risk for developing several types of tumors, including renal carcinoma, hemangioblastoma of the central nervous system, and pheochromocytoma. One of the key functions of VHL protein is interaction with the Elongin (SIII) complex, which is essential for regulating gene expression. The Elongin complex consists of three subunits: Elongin A, which is transcriptionally active, and two regulatory subunits, Elongin B and Elongin C. VHL binds to Elongin B and C, thereby inhibiting transcriptional activity of the complex, which is vital for maintaining normal cellular functions and preventing tumorigenesis. Additionally, various isoforms of VHL have been identified, resulting from alternative splicing, and molecular weights can differ across species, highlighting the complexity and importance of VHL in cellular regulation and cancer biology.
