    SEE ALSO...

Vasa Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa antibody that detects Vasa protein of Drosophila origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Vasa (C-2) antibody is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, providing versatility for various experimental needs. VASA, a 724 amino acid ATP-dependent RNA helicase belonging to the DEAD-box family, plays a crucial role in germline development by regulating the translation of specific mRNAs essential for differentiation. VASA expression is tightly regulated, being specifically found in germline cells throughout the life cycle while remaining undetectable in somatic tissues. In vertebrates, VASA is primarily restricted to bisexually reproducing organisms, highlighting VASA′s importance in reproductive biology. VASA is predominantly cytoplasmic and is localized in migratory primordial germ cells within the gonadal ridge, where VASA is vital for proper germ cell development. In testicular sections, VASA expression is most pronounced in spermatogonia, gradually decreasing in spermatocytes and spermatids, and is absent in mature sperm. In the ovary, VASA is highly expressed in oogonia and continues to be present throughout oogenesis. VASA features a glycine-rich N-terminus with multiple repeats of an RGG motif, which facilitates RNA binding, underscoring VASA′s functional significance in the regulation of mRNA translation during germ cell differentiation.
