V5-Probe Antibody (H-9) is a high quality monoclonal V5-Probe antibody (also designated V5 tag antibody, Simian Virus 5 tag antibody, or SV5 antibody)suitable for the detection of the V5-Probe protein of origin. V5-Probe Antibody (H-9) is available as both the non-conjugated anti-V5-Probe antibody form, as well as multiple conjugated forms of anti-V5-Probe antibody, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Plasmid vectors for the expression of coding regions of eukaryotic genes in bacterial, insect and mammalian hosts are in common usage; such expression vectors are frequently used to encode hybrid fusion proteins consisting of a eukaryotic target protein and a specialized region designed to aid in the purification and visualization of the target protein. An example is the V5-Probe which recognizes a small epitope, termed Pk, on the P/V proteins of the paramyxovirus simian virus 5 (SV5). This small peptide has proven useful in visualization and immunoaffinity purification of expressed fusion proteins. More than 20 recombinant proteins, some of which include transmembrane and secreted proteins, have been tagged with this epitope and detected via western blot, immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence.

At what molecular weight should the band be seen in Western Blot with V5-Probe (H-9): sc-271926 monoclonal antibody?
Asked by: jenni
Thank you for your question. The molecular weight expected varies depending on the fusion protein you are trying to detect, equal to the protein of interest plus the weight of the V5 tag that it is fused to.

I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with V5-Probe (H-9): sc-271926?
Asked by: jenni
We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins (m-IgGκ) conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems.
