SEE ALSO...

V5-Probe Antibody (E10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects V5 fusion protein by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). V5-Probe (E10) antibody is available in a non-conjugated form, specifically designed for detecting V5-tagged proteins commonly used in molecular biology for expression and purification of hybrid proteins. The V5 epitope, a small peptide derived from the Pk region of the paramyxovirus simian virus 5 (SV5), plays a crucial role in visualizing and purifying expressed fusion proteins. This small yet significant peptide allows researchers to track and isolate proteins of interest, facilitating studies on function and interactions. V5-Probe (E10) monoclonal antibody can tag over 20 recombinant proteins, including transmembrane and secreted proteins, enhancing experimental versatility. Using anti-V5 antibody (E10) in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP) helps scientists gain valuable insights into protein expression, localization, and dynamics, making V5-Probe (E10) monoclonal antibody an essential tool in protein research.

At what molecular weight should the band be seen in Western Blot with this antibody?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. The molecular weight expected varies depending on the fusion protein you are trying to detect, equal to the protein of interest plus the weight of the V5 tag that it is fused to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from blots ok but cross-reacting band problemsSpent a lot of time trying to sort out the specificity of this antibody. We tried to use to look at cell-cell junctions with V5-tagged proteins but it recognized junctions directly (no V5 tagged protein necessary), especially at higher concentrations. In the end we could not use any of the data. On westerns it works ok but has a cross-reacting band around 150K that we wonder might be a junctional protein.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clean antibodyI received a sample from SCBT and have tested this antibody for western blotting. There is a non-specific band at ~150kDa. Other than that, it is a clean antibody.
