Utrophin Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects utrophin of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-utrophin antibody (A-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Utrophin is a crucial protein that plays a significant role in muscle function and cellular integrity, particularly in muscular dystrophies. Utrophin shares structural similarities with dystrophin, which maintains muscle fiber stability by anchoring the cytoskeleton to the plasma membrane. Utrophin′s importance stems from compensating for dystrophin loss in certain muscular dystrophies, such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, where dystrophin is absent. Research shows that upregulating utrophin can mitigate pathological effects associated with dystrophin deficiency, offering a potential therapeutic avenue for treating muscular dystrophies. Utrophin localizes at the inner surface of the plasma membrane in muscle and brain tissues, highlighting a crucial role in maintaining cellular architecture and function.
