SEE ALSO...

UROS Antibody (G-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Uroporphyrinogen-III synthase (UROS) from mouse, rat, and human sources through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). UROS (G-9) antibody is available non-conjugated or conjugated to agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® variants. Uroporphyrinogen-III synthase (UROS), also known as hydroxymethylbilane hydrolyase, is a 265-amino acid protein catalyzing hydroxymethylbilane conversion to uroporphyrinogen III in heme biosynthesis. UROS functions primarily in skeletal muscle, heart muscle, caudate nucleus, and amygdala, indicating significance in metabolically active tissues. UROS acts as a monomer essential for porphyrin biosynthesis through the Shemin pathway, where gene defects can cause autosomal recessive Gunther disease or congenital erythropoietic porphyria (CEP), characterized by uroporphyrin I accumulation in bone marrow, peripheral blood, and organs, often leading to severe complications and early mortality.
