Trophinin Antibody (2E2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Trophinin in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Trophinin, also referred to as TRO or MAGED3, is a crucial apical cell adhesion molecule that plays a significant role in embryo implantation by forming a complex with Bystin and Tastin, thereby facilitating cell adhesion. This membrane protein is predominantly expressed in chorionic villi trophoblasts and maternal endometrial epithelial cells, with expression being dependent on implantation. Trophinin′s function involves homophilic binding between Trophinin molecules, which is essential for mediating adhesion between trophoblastic and endometrial epithelial cells. Notably, Trophinin expression is upregulated by Choriogonadotropin β and interleukin-1 beta, and higher levels of Trophinin correlate with increased cell adhesion, suggesting that enhancing Trophinin expression could improve implantation rates. Additionally, Trophinin is present in macrophages and features a single MAGE (melanoma-associated antigen) domain, highlighting potential involvement in immune responses and cancer biology.
