TNP2 Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TNP2 protein of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TNP2 (B-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Transition protein-2 (TNP2) plays a crucial role during mammalian spermiogenesis, where TNP2 is involved in the transformation of chromatin from a nucleosome structure to a nucleoprotamine structure during spermatid differentiation. This process is vital for the proper packaging of DNA in sperm cells, ensuring genetic material is correctly condensed and protected. TNP2 is a spermatid-specific product of the haploid genome, mapping to human chromosome 16p13.13, and encodes a highly basic nuclear protein that temporarily replaces histones before being substituted by protamines in mature sperm. While TNP2 is not essential for the initial shaping of the sperm nucleus or fertility, TNP2 is necessary for the normal processing of protamine 2, which is critical for the completion of chromatin condensation. Notably, in the absence of TNP1, TNP2 can partially compensate, although this dysregulation can lead to abnormal chromatin condensation patterns and reduced fertility.
