SEE ALSO...

TNAP Antibody (TRA-2-39) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TNAP of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). TNAP (TRA-2-39) antibody is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, providing versatility for various experimental needs. The tissue non-specific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP) is a crucial enzyme that plays a significant role in bone mineralization, functioning alongside plasma cell membrane glycoprotein-1. This enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of phospho-monoesters into inorganic phosphate and alcohol, a process vital for maintaining phosphate homeostasis in the body. TNAP is widely expressed in several tissues, including the liver, kidney, bone, stomach, and colon, and is encoded by a gene located on chromosome 1p36.12. Notably, while TNAP is essential for normal bone mineralization, studies have shown that mice lacking functional TNAP can still exhibit normal skeletal development, indicating the presence of compensatory mechanisms. However, mutations in the TNAP gene are directly linked to hypophosphatasia, a rare genetic disorder characterized by defective bone mineralization and associated skeletal defects. Understanding TNAP′s function and interactions with other proteins is critical for elucidating the underlying mechanisms of bone-related diseases and developing potential therapeutic strategies.

Can TNAP (TRA-2-39): sc-21708 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. Yes, TNAP (TRA-2-39): sc-21708 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
