SEE ALSO...

Tim44 Antibody (A-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Tim44 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Tim44 (A-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Tim44 protein plays a crucial role in mitochondrial protein import, specifically in the translocation of nuclear-encoded preproteins into the mitochondrial matrix. Tim44 functions as a key component of the translocase of the inner mitochondrial membrane (TIM) complex, which is essential for proper functioning of mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell. Tim44 interacts with mitochondrial heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70), facilitating the transfer of preproteins from the TIM channel into the mitochondrial matrix. This interaction is vital for maintaining mitochondrial function and cellular energy production, as it ensures necessary proteins are correctly imported and folded within mitochondria. Tim44′s importance in mitochondrial biogenesis and function highlights its potential as a target for studying mitochondrial-related diseases and disorders.
