SEE ALSO...

TIGAR Antibody (E-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects TIGAR in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TIGAR (E-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TIGAR, also known as TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator or C12orf5, is a 270 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism and stress response. TIGAR is induced by the p53 tumor suppressor pathway, which is vital for maintaining genomic stability and preventing tumorigenesis. TIGAR functions by modulating the glycolytic pathway; TIGAR shares sequence similarity with the fructose-2,6-bisphosphate degrading enzyme, allowing TIGAR to lower intracellular levels of fructose-2,6-bisphosphate. This action effectively inhibits glycolysis and redirects metabolic flux towards the pentose phosphate pathway, which is essential for generating NADPH and ribose-5-phosphate. By decreasing the concentration of reactive oxygen species, TIGAR helps protect cells from oxidative stress, which can lead to DNA damage and apoptosis. TIGAR′s ability to regulate these metabolic processes underscores its importance in cellular defense mechanisms and potential implications in cancer biology.
