    SEE ALSO...

THEM2 Antibody (B-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects THEM2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). THEM2 (B-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. THEM2, also known as thioesterase superfamily member 2, is a 140 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by hydrolyzing thioester bonds, which is essential for the regulation of fatty acid and lipid homeostasis within cells. This function is particularly important as dysregulation of lipid metabolism is linked to various metabolic disorders and diseases, including obesity and diabetes. Highly expressed in the kidney and moderately in the brain, liver, and intestines, THEM2 co-localizes with microtubules, potentially influencing cellular proliferation and signaling pathways. The gene encoding THEM2 is located on chromosome 6, a region associated with several genetic disorders, including early onset intestinal cancer and other conditions such as Porphyria cutanea tarda and Parkinson′s disease, highlighting THEM2′s significance in both normal physiology and disease states.
