TFR2 Antibody (B-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects transferrin receptor 2 (TFR2) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TFR2 plays a crucial role in iron metabolism by mediating the uptake of transferrin-bound iron, which is essential for numerous biological processes such as oxygen transport and DNA synthesis. TFR2 is predominantly located in the liver, where TFR2 is highly expressed in hepatocytes, as well as in erythroid precursors, highlighting TFR2′s importance in maintaining iron homeostasis and supporting erythrocyte differentiation. The gene encoding human TFR2 is situated on chromosome 7q22 and produces two isoforms: an α isoform that encodes a transmembrane protein and a β isoform that encodes a shorter, intracellular protein. Mutations in TFR2 can lead to hereditary hemochromatosis type III (HFE3), a disorder characterized by excessive iron accumulation, which can result in severe clinical complications such as cirrhosis, cardiomyopathy, diabetes, endocrine dysfunctions, arthropathy, and an increased risk of liver cancer. TFR2 (B-6) antibody is an invaluable tool for researchers studying iron metabolism and related disorders, providing insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying these conditions.
