TCP-1 α Antibody (B-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TCP-1 α in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TCP-1 α (B-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TCP-1 α, also known as t complex polypeptide 1, is a crucial subunit of the chaperonin containing TCP-1 (CCT) complex, which is essential for protein folding in the eukaryotic cytosol. This complex consists of eight distinct subunits, including TCP-1 α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ, η, and θ, each encoded by separate genes, highlighting the complexity and specificity of protein folding mechanisms. TCP-1 α plays a vital role in the proper folding of cytosolic proteins, particularly actins and tubulins, which are fundamental for maintaining cellular structure and function. TCP-1 α was first identified in mice with tail-less and embryonic lethal phenotypes, demonstrating its importance in critical developmental processes. Homologous sequences of TCP-1 have been identified across various species, indicating evolutionary conservation and significance in cellular biology. TCP-1′s function as a molecular chaperone for actin and tubulin in both mammalian cells and yeast emphasizes its essential role in ensuring cytoskeletal framework integrity, which is crucial for numerous cellular processes, including motility, division, and intracellular transport.
