TBC1D8 Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects TBC1D8 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TBC1D8 (B-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TBC1D8, also known as VRP (Vascular Rab-GAP/TBC-containing protein), AD3, or HBLP1, is a crucial GTPase-activating protein that plays a significant role in regulating the activity of Rab proteins, which are essential for intracellular vesicle trafficking. By accelerating the intrinsic rate of GTP hydrolysis, TBC1D8 downregulates the active form of these Rab proteins, thereby influencing various cellular processes such as membrane transport and signal transduction. TBC1D8 consists of 897 amino acids and features a highly conserved Rab-GAP TBC domain, which is vital for catalytic activity. Additionally, TBC1D8 contains a GRAM domain that may be involved in membrane association, further underscoring importance in cellular dynamics. The gene encoding TBC1D8 is located on human chromosome 2, a region that encompasses over 1,400 genes and represents nearly 8% of the human genome, highlighting potential involvement in a wide array of biological functions and relevance in health and disease.
