SEE ALSO...

Tau Antibody (Tau-13) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specifically developed to recognize human recombinant Tau protein. Anti-Tau antibody (Tau-13) detects all Tau isoforms from mouse, rat, and human sources, making it suitable for applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Tau, also known as MAPT (microtubule-associated protein tau), or TAU, is a 758 amino acid protein integral to the stabilization and assembly of microtubules in neuronal cells. Located primarily in the cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, and cell membrane, Tau contains four Tau/MAP repeats that facilitate binding to microtubules, thereby maintaining neuronal polarity and supporting cytoskeletal plasticity. Expressed predominantly in neuronal tissue, Tau exists in multiple alternatively spliced isoforms that are crucial for the dynamic restructuring of the cytoskeleton essential for proper neuronal function. Tau undergoes various post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation, polyubiquitination, and glycation, which regulate activity and degradation processes. Dysregulation or mutations in the Tau gene are associated with several neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer′s disease, pallido-ponto-nigral degeneration (PPND), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), highlighting Tau′s critical role in neuronal health. Tau monoclonal antibody (Tau-13) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing researchers with flexible options for diverse experimental setups.

To whom concerned, Could you tell me the epitope of anti-Tau (Tau13) (product number: sc-21796)? In another company info, clone tau-13 has the epitope of 15-25 of N-terminal portion of full-length total Tau. The same clone? Thanks!

Asked by: HiroHiroHiro
Thank you for your question. We have not yet further identified its specific epitope. It would be helpful if you could email our Asia Service department at asia@scbio.cn for more interactive discussions on this and other related issues.

Can you provide the epitope sequence or information? Need to make sure this clone (Tau-13) is targeting all human isoforms. Thank you very much!

Asked by: CSYang
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately this antibody has not been epitope mapped, so we do not have further information than what is provided on this product block. It is known to detect all Tau isoforms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent antibody for a very famous protein! This anti-tau antibody is highly specific and identified multiple bands at around 55kda which is perfect. Both human Hek293 and HepG2 cells lines showed the expression of Tau protein based on this antibody and that matched expression pattern reported in human protein atlas. Tau is heavily phosphorylated and there are other post-transnational modifications reported in the literature. The extra high molecular weight bands may be due to multiple differential PTMs. Excellent choice and highly recommend this antibody for your research.
