Tau Antibody (Tau-13) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specifically developed to recognize human recombinant Tau protein. Anti-Tau antibody (Tau-13) detects all Tau isoforms from mouse, rat, and human sources, making it suitable for applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Tau, also known as MAPT (microtubule-associated protein tau), or TAU, is a 758 amino acid protein integral to the stabilization and assembly of microtubules in neuronal cells. Located primarily in the cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, and cell membrane, Tau contains four Tau/MAP repeats that facilitate binding to microtubules, thereby maintaining neuronal polarity and supporting cytoskeletal plasticity. Expressed predominantly in neuronal tissue, Tau exists in multiple alternatively spliced isoforms that are crucial for the dynamic restructuring of the cytoskeleton essential for proper neuronal function. Tau undergoes various post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation, polyubiquitination, and glycation, which regulate activity and degradation processes. Dysregulation or mutations in the Tau gene are associated with several neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer′s disease, pallido-ponto-nigral degeneration (PPND), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), highlighting Tau′s critical role in neuronal health. Tau monoclonal antibody (Tau-13) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing researchers with flexible options for diverse experimental setups.
