SEE ALSO...

TAP Antibody (53H8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TAP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-TAP antibody (53H8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TAP protein, also known as NXF1, plays a crucial role in the export of mRNA from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, which is essential for proper gene expression and cellular function. TAP interacts with the constitutive transport element (CTE) of type D retroviruses, facilitating the nuclear export of unspliced viral RNAs. This interaction enables efficient viral replication and production of new virions. TAP belongs to a larger family of NXF proteins, characterized by conserved leucine-rich-repeat domain and nuclear transport factor 2-like domain, highlighting the evolutionary significance of this protein family in cellular transport mechanisms.

Will this antibody detect a protein that contain the first 240 amino acids of Nxf1 ? Can you reveal the epitope, otherwise I cannot use this antibody.

Asked by: LouH
Thank you for your question. The exact immunogen used to develop this monoclonal antibody, TAP (53H8): sc-32319, is not known, and the epitope has not been mapped. We have two alternative antibodies available that do have epitopes that are mapping within the first 240 amino acids of NFX1, or the TAP protein. Links to the information for these antibodies are provided below as a reference. I am using TAP (53H8): sc-32319 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: jerojero
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
