Symplekin Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects symplekin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Symplekin is a crucial regulatory protein that plays a significant role in the polyadenylation of mRNA, which is essential for gene expression and the stability of mRNA molecules. Symplekin is predominantly located in the nucleus, cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, and cell junctions, highlighting versatile functions within the cell. Symplekin forms a high molecular weight complex, known as the tight junction complex, with other proteins involved in polyadenylation, underscoring importance in recruiting regulatory proteins to specific sites for efficient gene expression. Symplekin is involved in the 3′-end maturation of histone mRNAs, which is vital for proper cell cycle regulation and gene transcription. Defects in the gene encoding symplekin have been linked to hepatocellular carcinoma, indicating potential role in tumorigenesis. Symplekin is expressed as two isoforms due to alternative splicing, which may contribute to diverse functional roles in various tissues, including the testis, pancreas, stomach, liver, and fetal brain.
