Stomatin Antibody (E-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Stomatin in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Stomatin is an integral membrane protein predominantly located in lipid/protein-rich microdomains across nearly all human tissues, playing a crucial role in maintaining cellular integrity and function. Stomatin′s presence in these microdomains is vital for effective signal transduction and cell communication, as Stomatin may regulate the movement of cations through ion channels and transporters. Absence of Stomatin can lead to dysregulation of sodium and potassium ion concentrations within erythrocytes, potentially resulting in cellular dysfunction. Stomatin serves as a cytoskeletal anchor, contributing to the structural stability of cells. Stomatin is a major component of lipid rafts in erythrocytes and epithelial cells, and Stomatin is also found abundantly in platelets. Structurally, Stomatin features a single hydrophobic domain near its N-terminus, which is essential for membrane association, along with a phosphorylation site that may play a role in regulatory functions. Anti-Stomatin antibody (E-6) is an invaluable tool for researchers investigating the physiological and pathological roles of Stomatin in human health and disease.

Can Stomatin (E-6): sc-376920 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. Yes, Stomatin (E-6): sc-376920 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
