STAU1 Antibody (H-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects STAU1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). STAU1 is a 577 amino acid protein characterized by three double-stranded RNA-binding domains and serves as a mammalian homolog of the Drosophila Staufen protein, which is crucial for mRNA transport during oogenesis and zygotic development. STAU1 is primarily localized to the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) and is expressed across various tissues, including the heart, brain, liver, lung, pancreas, kidney, and placenta. STAU1 plays a vital role in mRNA transport from the microtubule network to the RER, binding to both tubulin and double-stranded RNA, which is essential for the proper positioning of mRNA during translation. Furthermore, STAU1 is involved in cross-linking cytoskeletal components with RNA, a process that is critical for maintaining the integrity of mRNA localization. Notably, alternative splicing of the STAU1 gene results in two isoforms, known as short and long, which may have distinct functional roles in cellular processes.
