STAU1 Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects STAU1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). STAU1 is a 577 amino acid protein characterized by three double-stranded RNA-binding domains and serves as a mammalian homolog of the Drosophila Staufen protein, which is crucial for mRNA transport during oogenesis and zygotic development. STAU1 is primarily localized to the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) and is expressed across various tissues, including the heart, brain, liver, lung, pancreas, kidney, and placenta. The localization of STAU1 to the RER is significant as STAU1 facilitates the transport of mRNA from the microtubule network to the site of translation, ensuring that mRNA is correctly positioned for efficient protein synthesis. Furthermore, STAU1 interacts with both tubulin and double-stranded RNA, and STAU1 may play a role in cross-linking cytoskeletal components with RNA, which is essential for maintaining proper mRNA positioning during translation. Notably, alternative splicing of the STAU1 gene results in two isoforms, referred to as short and long, which may have distinct functional roles in cellular processes. Anti-STAU1 antibody (G-8) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying mRNA transport mechanisms and the intricate regulation of gene expression.
