STAU1 Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects STAU1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). STAU1 is a 577 amino acid protein characterized by three double-stranded RNA-binding domains and serves as a mammalian homolog of the Drosophila Staufen protein, which is crucial for mRNA transport during oogenesis and zygotic development. STAU1 is primarily localized to the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) and is expressed across multiple tissues such as the heart, brain, liver, lung, pancreas, kidney, and placenta. STAU1 plays a vital role in mRNA transport by binding to both tubulin and double-stranded RNA, facilitating the movement of mRNA from the microtubule network to the RER. Furthermore, STAU1 is believed to be involved in cross-linking cytoskeletal components with RNA, a process essential for the accurate positioning of mRNA during translation, thereby influencing gene expression and cellular function. Alternative splicing of the STAU1 gene results in two isoforms, referred to as short and long, which may have distinct functional roles in cellular processes.
