SPT4 Antibody (3079C1a) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects SPT4 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). SPT4, also known as Suppressor of Ty4, plays a crucial role in the regulation of transcriptional elongation, particularly in the context of the DSIF (DRB-sensitivity-inducing factor) complex, which SPT4 forms with SPT5. This complex is essential for the proper functioning of RNA polymerase II during transcription, as SPT4 directly influences the elongation process. SPT4′s interaction with SPT5 is vital for the recruitment of the P-TEFb complex, which phosphorylates SPT5 and enhances SPT5′s activity as a transcriptional regulator. The phosphorylation state of SPT5 varies between different cell cycle phases, affecting SPT5′s mobility on SDS-PAGE and functional capacity.
