Spir-2 Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Spir-2 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Spir-2 (G-5) antibody is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Spir-2, also known as spire homolog 2 or SPIRE2, is a 714 amino acid protein belonging to the spire family, characterized by cytoplasmic localization. Spir-2 contains one KIND domain and three WH2 domains, which are crucial for function as an actin nucleation factor, facilitating actin filament binding through WH2 domains. Spir-2′s ability to nucleate actin is vital for various cellular processes, including vesicle transport, linking actin organization to intracellular transport mechanisms. Spir-2 is expressed in four isoforms generated by alternative splicing, with a gene located on human chromosome 16, a region associated with several genetic disorders. Notably, mutations in the GAN gene on chromosome 16 can lead to giant axonal neuropathy, a progressive nervous system disorder, while the CREBBP gene is linked to Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome, presenting with developmental delays and increased cancer risk. Additionally, the NOD2 gene on chromosome 16 is implicated in Crohn′s disease, highlighting this chromosome′s significance in various health conditions.
