spectrin α II Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects spectrin α II in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-spectrin α II antibody (C-11) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. spectrin α II, also known as fodrin α, plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity of the cytoskeleton in non-erythroid cells, where spectrin α II is primarily located in the cytoplasm. spectrin α II is essential for the organization and stabilization of the cell membrane, as spectrin α II forms a network that supports cellular shape and mechanical properties. The spectrin cytoskeletal network is vital for various cellular processes, including cell signaling, motility, and maintaining the overall architecture of the cell. Additionally, spectrin α II interacts with other cytoskeletal proteins, such as actin and various membrane proteins, which further emphasizes spectrin α II′s importance in cellular dynamics and integrity. The breakdown of spectrin α II by calpain activation can lead to significant alterations in neuronal structure, highlighting spectrin α II′s role in neurodegenerative processes.

n my mitochondrial proteomic analysis of mice, the protein spectrin appeared very expressed, would you have a suggestion of the best antibody to label by WB, and have any antibodies that mark both subunits?

Asked by: tamara Aeaujo
Thank you for your question. This is a very good antibody for detection of spectrin α II of mouse origin in Western blotting. Please contact our Technical Service Department for further recommendations.

What is the recommended secondary reagent to use with spectrin α II (C-11): sc-46696 mouse monoclonal primary?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. While most anti-mouse IgG secondary antibodies are appropriate for use with spectrin α II (C-11): sc-46696, we recommend using one our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins as a secondary detection reagent. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
