SEE ALSO...

spectrin α I Antibody (B-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects spectrin alpha I protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-spectrin α I antibody (B-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. spectrin alpha I plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and stability of erythrocyte plasma membrane, as spectrin alpha I is a key component of the cytoskeletal framework that determines cell shape and mechanical properties. spectrin alpha I is primarily located beneath the plasma membrane of erythrocytes, where spectrin alpha I forms a mesh-like structure that supports the membrane and facilitates flexibility during deformation. This structural organization is vital for red blood cells as they navigate through narrow capillaries, ensuring efficient oxygen transport throughout the body. Additionally, spectrin alpha I interacts with other cytoskeletal proteins, such as actin and band 3, to form a dynamic network that is essential for cellular stability and function. Defects in spectrin alpha I can lead to various red blood cell disorders, including hereditary spherocytosis and elliptocytosis, highlighting the importance of spectrin alpha I in maintaining normal erythrocyte morphology and function.
