Sp2 Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Sp2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Sp2 (A-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Sp2 protein, a member of the Sp transcription factor family, plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression by binding to specific DNA sequences known as GC boxes, although Sp2 exhibits a weaker affinity for GT boxes compared to its family counterparts. This differential binding is significant as Sp2 influences the transcriptional activity of genes involved in various cellular processes, including cell growth and differentiation. Sp transcription factors, which also include Sp1, Sp3, and Sp4, share a conserved DNA-binding domain characterized by three zinc fingers at the C-terminus, yet each performs distinct functions within the cell. While Sp1, Sp3, and Sp4 are ubiquitously expressed, Sp2′s expression is more restricted, which may contribute to unique regulatory roles in specific tissues. The gene encoding human Sp2 is located on chromosome 17p32.3, highlighting Sp2′s genetic significance in the context of human health and disease.

When should the TransCruz reagent sc-17814 X be used instead of the standard form sc-17814?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. We recommend using the TransCruz reagent form when performing ChIP or GelShift assays. This form can also be used in other applications such as Western Blot or IHC, but the dilution should be adjusted by a factor of 10 to account for the higher original concentration.
