    SEE ALSO...

SO Antibody (F-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects SO protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SO (F-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Sulfite oxidase (SO) is a crucial homodimeric enzyme located in the intermembrane space of mitochondria, where SO catalyzes the oxidation of sulfite to sulfate, representing the final step in the oxidative degradation of sulfur-containing amino acids such as cysteine and methionine. SO deficiency can lead to severe neurological disorders and early mortality. Mutations in the Arginine 160 residue in humans significantly impair the intramolecular electron transfer rate, exacerbating the severity of related genetic disorders. The tyrosine 343 residue is essential for substrate binding and the oxidation process, highlighting the intricate structure-function relationship of SO. The human SO gene is located on chromosome 12 and exhibits high expression levels in critical tissues, including the liver, kidney, skeletal muscle, heart, placenta, and brain, underscoring SO importance in various physiological processes.
