Smurf2 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Smurf2 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Smurf2 (C-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Smurf2, a member of the Hect family of proteins, plays a crucial role in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, specifically functioning as an E3 ubiquitin ligase. Smurf2 is essential for regulating the degradation of receptor-regulated SMADs, which are pivotal in the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) signaling pathway. By selectively interacting with R-Smads such as Smad1, Smad2, and Smad3, Smurf2 facilitates their ubiquitination and subsequent degradation, thereby modulating cellular responses to TGF-β signals. Nuclear localization of Smurf2 allows for SMAD activity regulation; however, Smurf2 interaction with Smad7 leads to nuclear export and recruitment to the activated TGF-β receptor, promoting Smad7 degradation. This dynamic regulation underscores Smurf2′s importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and potential implications in various diseases, including cancer and fibrosis.
