SMP30 Antibody (H-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects senescence marker protein-30 (SMP30) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SMP30 plays a crucial role in maintaining intracellular calcium homeostasis by modulating the activity of the plasma membrane calcium pump, which is vital for cellular function and survival. By regulating calcium levels, SMP30 helps protect cells from apoptosis, thereby contributing to tissue health and longevity. SMP30 is predominantly expressed in the liver, kidney, and submandibular gland, with localization in the renal proximal tubular epithelium and hepatocytes being particularly significant for protective functions. Notably, SMP30 expression increases during tissue maturation and decreases with aging in an androgen-independent manner, highlighting a potential role in age-related cellular processes. The promoter sequence of the mouse SMP30 gene contains binding sites for various transcription factors, including Sp1, AP2, CCAAT box, Lyf-1, and GATA-1, which may influence expression and activity in different physiological contexts. Anti-SMP30 antibody (H-4) is an essential tool for researchers studying the implications of SMP30 in cellular aging and calcium regulation.
