SMC3 Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects SMC3 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SMC3, a member of the structural maintenance of chromosomes (SMC) protein family, plays a crucial role in maintaining sister chromatid cohesion and facilitating chromosome condensation during mitosis, which is essential for accurate cell division and genomic stability. SMC3 is primarily localized in the nucleus, where SMC3 forms a heterodimeric complex with SMC1, and is vital for the proper progression of metaphase in mitotic cells. Notably, SMC3 can also exist as a secreted proteoglycan, particularly in the testis and brain, where SMC3 is involved in basement membrane physiology due to multiple glycosylation sites.
