SEE ALSO...

SLUG Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SLUG protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-SLUG antibody (A-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SLUG protein, also known as SNAI2, plays a crucial role in embryonic development and cellular processes, particularly in the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which is essential for processes such as tissue remodeling and organogenesis. SLUG is primarily located in the nucleus, where SLUG functions as a transcriptional repressor, binding to specific DNA sequences to inhibit the expression of genes that promote epithelial characteristics. This nuclear localization enables SLUG to effectively regulate gene expression during critical developmental stages and in pathological conditions, such as cancer, where SLUG contributes to tumor progression and metastasis by promoting cell migration and invasion. SLUG′s ability to modulate gene expression in response to developmental cues underscores SLUG′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states, making SLUG monoclonal antibody (A-7) an invaluable tool for researchers studying these processes.

Does this antibody (sc-166476) have cross-reactivity to Snail protein?

Asked by: nobu
Thank you for your question. This mouse monoclonal antibody is specific for SLUG and does not cross-react with the closely related family protein, Snail, also designated SNAI 1.

I am interested in performing a double stain, but how can I do this if I am only using mouse monoclonals?

Asked by: Cweed
To perform a double stain, we recommend using directly conjugated primary antibodies. This product, sc-166476, is available conjugated to AF488, AF647, and FITC.

Will this cross react with mouse?

Asked by: Cathy193
Thank you for your question. sc-166476 does not cross react with mouse samples. However, we do have another mouse monoclonal antibody against SLUG that does react with mouse, sc-166902: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/product/slug-antibody-c-7.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No specific bandsWe used the mouse monoclonal SLUG Antibody (A-7) for Western Blot at a dilution 1:500 in milk and its expression was detected in MDA-MB-231 cell line as suggest by data sheet. Nevertheless, we got high background with not-specific bands and low signal at the expected size.
