SHP Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects SHP in human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SHP, or short heterodimer partner, is an orphan nuclear receptor that plays a crucial role in regulating metabolic processes by modulating the activity of other nuclear receptors. SHP is primarily expressed in the liver, as well as in other tissues such as the fetal liver, adrenal gland, spleen, and small intestine, highlighting SHP′s importance in metabolic regulation and homeostasis. SHP′s unique structure, which includes dimerization and ligand-binding domains but lacks a conserved DNA binding domain, allows SHP to function as a negative regulator of various nuclear receptors, including thyroid receptors and estrogen receptors. This structural characteristic enables SHP to inhibit transcriptional activity through multiple mechanisms, such as dimerization that prevents DNA binding and competition with coactivators. SHP′s interaction with nuclear receptors is essential for maintaining cellular balance, particularly in bile acid regulation, where SHP acts as a protective factor against bile acid-mediated damage in cholestatic conditions. Anti-SHP antibody (A-7) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying SHP′s intricate roles in metabolic pathways and implications in various diseases.
