SETMAR Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SETMAR protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SETMAR antibody (A-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SETMAR protein, also known as METNASE or Hsmar1, is a crucial fusion protein that plays a significant role in DNA repair processes. SETMAR is characterized by a unique structure, which includes an N-terminal SET domain providing histone-lysine N-methyltransferase activity to methylate specific lysine residues on histone H3, and a C-terminal transposase domain facilitating DNA-binding, looping, and cleavage activities. This structural arrangement enables both domains to work together for effective DNA engagement and repair mechanism mediation. SETMAR is predominantly localized in the nucleus, where SETMAR interacts with DNA and other proteins, including pre-mRNA processing protein PRP19, to form stable complexes necessary for DNA damage repair. Alternative splicing produces two isoforms, highlighting SETMAR′s complexity and regulatory potential in cellular processes.
