SEE ALSO...

RNF5 Antibody (22B3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects RNF5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunohistochemistry. anti-RNF5 antibody (22B3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. RNF5, also known as ring finger protein 5, RMA1, NG2, or G16, is a 180 amino acid protein characterized by the presence of a RING-type zinc finger motif, which is crucial for function as a ubiquitin ligase. This motif allows RNF5 to bind two zinc atoms and is essential for a role in the ubiquitination pathway, a key mechanism in protein degradation. RNF5 is predominantly localized to the membrane and plays a significant role in regulating cell motility by modulating the ubiquitination of paxillin, a focal adhesion phosphoprotein that interacts with the cytoskeleton. By targeting paxillin for ubiquitination, RNF5 alters localization and affects ability to recruit signaling molecules to focal adhesions, thereby influencing cellular signaling and movement. Notably, while overexpression of RNF5 has been linked to the progression of breast cancer, reduced expression levels have been observed in muscular disorders, highlighting critical involvement in the regulation of cytoskeletal dynamics and potential implications in various diseases.

Can RNF5 (22B3): sc-81716 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, RNF5 (22B3): sc-81716 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
