Raptor Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Raptor in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Raptor (A-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The regulatory associated protein of FRAP, known as Raptor, plays a pivotal role in the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway, which is crucial for cellular growth and metabolism. Raptor is primarily located in the cytoplasm, where Raptor interacts with mTOR to form a complex that is sensitive to nutrient availability. This localization is significant because Raptor acts as a sensor of cellular nutrient status, thereby regulating mTOR activity and influencing processes such as protein synthesis and cell growth in response to environmental changes. Under nutrient-rich conditions, Raptor promotes mTOR activity, facilitating the phosphorylation of downstream targets like 4E-BP1, which is essential for cap-dependent translation. Conversely, during nutrient deprivation, Raptor serves as a negative regulator of mTOR, helping to conserve resources and maintain cellular homeostasis. Raptor is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle, with lower levels found in the brain, kidney, lung, and placenta, highlighting Raptor′s importance in tissues with high metabolic demands.
