SEE ALSO...

Ran Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Ran protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Ran antibody (A-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ran, a small Ras-related GTPase, plays a crucial role in regulating nucleocytoplasmic transport, which maintains cellular homeostasis and facilitates proper functioning of cellular processes like DNA replication and mitosis. Located predominantly in the nucleus, Ran is involved in transporting RNA and proteins through the nuclear pore complex, ensuring essential molecules are accurately shuttled between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Ran activity is tightly regulated by guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) and GTPase activating proteins (GAPs), with RCC1 serving as a key GEF that promotes GDP to GTP exchange, thereby activating Ran. Ran GAP1 enhances GTP to GDP hydrolysis, maintaining the balance of active and inactive forms. Additionally, proteins such as Ran BP-1 and Ran BP-2 interact with Ran, influencing activity and localization, which underscores Ran′s importance in cellular dynamics and signaling pathways.
