R-cadherin Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects R-cadherin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). R-cadherin Antibody (D-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. R-cadherin, also known as cadherin-4, is a member of the cadherin family of calcium-dependent adhesion molecules, which play a crucial role in mediating cell-cell adhesion essential for maintaining tissue integrity and facilitating morphogenetic processes. R-cadherin is predominantly located in the cell membrane, where R-cadherin forms adherens junctions that connect adjacent cells, thereby contributing to the structural stability of tissues. This localization is particularly important in the retina, where R-cadherin is involved in the development and maintenance of retinal architecture, as well as in the formation of striated muscle and epithelial tissues. The extracellular domain of R-cadherin contains five homologous repeats that are critical for binding specificity, while the intracellular domain interacts with cytoplasmic proteins, such as catenin beta, to regulate adhesive functions. The ability of R-cadherin to mediate these interactions underscores R-cadherin′s significance in developmental biology and tissue organization, making anti-R-cadherin antibody (D-9) an invaluable tool for researchers studying cell adhesion and tissue dynamics.
